The International Biology Olympiad (IBO)

The IBO is an international competition for students on high school level. Its main goal is to provide a platform for them to compete in solving biological problems and carrying out scientific experiments.

Each year in July, the IBO takes place in another country and usually takes about one week. Besides the main competetion, the IBO is an opportunity to get to know the host country. Additonally, the participants have the chance to get in contact with students from all over the world who share their interest in biology. This allows them to socialize and to make new friends.

Each of the about 60 participating countries may send a delegation of four participants. Each team is accompanied by two supervisors. The participants of each country are selected previously in a national competetion. All necessary information are available on the website of the IBO.

IBO 2013 in Switzerland

We have the honour to organize the International Biology Olympiad 2013 in collaboration with the university ob Berne and the Association of Swiss Scientific Olympiads. In 2008, the international commitee has given the final attribution to Switzerland.

The IBO 2013 will be held between July 14 and 21 2013 in Berne. We are looking forward to realize this project.
